Apple announced a new laptop, the 16-inch MacBook Pro with a redesigned keyboard, since its butterfly keyboard, with very flat keys installed on previous MacBooks, had been seriously criticized by the public.
Apple has therefore added the Magic Keyboard to its 16-inch MacBook Pro, like the iMac and iMac Pro, sold with it.
However, it's not yet clear if the keys are exactly the same, but the Apple brand has truly reverted to using a scissor mechanism with rubber domes under the keycaps.
This new Apple computer and its variations replace the 15-inch MacBook Pro, its standard version is €3, with 199 TB of storage.
Apple offers for the first time a version of Macbook Pro with a space of 8 TB of storage, which is double the previous versions.
The other significant change concerns the esc (Esc) key, which becomes a physical key rather than a numerical one on the Touch Bar. The Touch ID sensor has been removed from the touch bar to have its own location.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro has, obviously, a 16-inch display, larger than the farewell 15,4-inch version. It has a resolution of 3072 x 2192 and it is framed with narrower edges than its older siblings.
According to Apple, its new laptop has a thermal architecture that allows for 28% more airflow thanks to a 35% larger heatsink.
This MacBook Pro is notably equipped with 9th generation Intel processors rather than the more recent 10th generation. Which is likely to keep the whole MacBook range with the same architecture, but it means that Apple is behind some laptops in the same price category...
It also features Apple's Apple T2 Security chip, four Thunderbolt 3 UBS-C ports for connecting two external displays and (fortunately) includes a headphone jack.
The standard 16-inch MacBook Pro has a hexa-core processor, 4GB DDR16 memory, configurable up to a maximum of 64GB, an AMD Radeon Pro 5300M chip with 4GB of GDDR6 memory configurable to 8GB.
Apple said the most powerful configurations allow the MacBook Pro to handle up to six streams of 8K video, compared to 3 for older models.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro is advertised with an 11-hour battery life, comes with a 96W USB-C power adapter, and runs macOS Catalina. The 13-inch MacBook Pro remains unchanged, and it is still on sale on the Apple site.
